This post kicks off the "Getting Started with Tech" series, where we discuss considerations for your essential tech needs.

**************

You're going traveling. Awesome. But how are you going to stay connected. Are you taking your phone, computer, carrier pidgeon? Chances are, you're looking at all your tech options wondering how you are going to fit them all in you backpack. Well, fear not. With a little bit of forethought, you can take everything you need with as little frustration as possible, from phones to computers to you name it.

As it the theme with getting started with traveling, determining what your goal is with the tech you carry will set the stage for all of your electronics decisions. Are you working remote? Looking to stay constantly connected to the internet? Trying your hand at the travel vlogger life? Getting into wildlife photography? A combination thereof? Each of these comes with a different set of tech needs, wants, and mistakes (yes, we all make them).

Chances are, when you take your first trip, whether it be for one week, one month, or one year, you will quickly realise that whatever you thought would be the perfect setup isn't quite right. You didn't end up using that computer you brought, you constantly found yourself running low on GoPro battery power, and there wasn't readily-available wifi to keep you connected (or whatever problems you ran into). While we all have to learn some lessons the hard way (it is a right of passage, after all), there are some basic concepts that you can apply when planning your trip that will minimize your tech frustrations on the road.

In the "Getting Started with Tech" series, we will discuss some of the tech essentials for your travel journey. Whether it be the dream resort vacation or roughing it through the Zambian jungle, your tech choices will heavily impact both your pack and how you document your experience. From phones to computers and everything in between, we all stay connected. On a trip of a lifetime, the last thing we want is to be frustrated because we didn't think something as simple as a camera through.

Stay tuned to this series as we cover basic considerations, specific hardware recommendations, and what we use to ensure we streamline our connectivity on the road.
