City Post: Bordeaux

Bordeaux. Overcast and drizzly almost the entire time (just like Jack's first visit here a few years back). We walked to our AirBnB from the train station (a full 26 minute walk courtesy of Jack...) and grabbed some bar food at the nearby square before calling it a night. The next day, we tried to get an early start, but we learned that Bordeaux doesn't really come alive until about 10 in the morning. On top of that, it was raining off and on, so we eventually gave up on sightseeing and went to a local coffee bar to wait out the rain. When it all cleared up, we headed to Le Cite du Vin, a museum dedicated to wine. Jo could have spent all day here (and certainly did spend all afternoon)! If you're ever in Bordeaux, definitely look it up. It even comes with a free wine tasting at the end!

We had a late-ish bus on our last day in Bordeaux, so after a quiet, relaxing breakfast of croissants and coffee we went to Le Musee National Des Douanes, a museum dedicated to the history of the French customs service. At 6 Euro each (including an English audio guide), it was more than worth the visit. After a lunch consisting solely of crepes, we made our way back to the AirBnB, packed our bags, and took a bus back to the train station to catch our bus to San Sebastian.
This was our second whirlwind city tour, so we were both ready to slow it down a bit. We had already planned to spend an extra full day in San Sebastian, so we will see how that works out for us.
Where we stayed: AirBnB on Rue Rene Roy de Clotte
Jo's Favourite: Le Cite du Vin
Jack's Faourite: Le Musee National des Douanes
Top lesson learned: Look up how to use public transportation ahead of time! (and agree on how you're going to get from point A to point B)
